The Orono Westonka Soccer Youth Development Program (YDP) is for players 2 - 8 years old looking for a soccer experience that emphasizes participation, learning and fun. Our program offers youth players the opportunity to learn the skills, techniques and rules of soccer in a fun and healthy environment.
OWSC relies on volunteer parent coaches for all of our YDP teams. Please consider volunteering to coach your child's team - you can sign up in the registration. No experience is needed - training plans and resources are provided for all coaches!
***If your player has a birth year of 2015 you will need to register your player for OWSC Travel (Competitive) Soccer. Find out more information HERE.

Overview | The Development Academy tournament team is a group of players who will participate in 3-4 ‘Match Day’ events throughout the season. These typically take place on the weekends and can be located around the Twin Cities. Match Days involve two 40 min games back to back (typically about a 2 hour commitment) against other clubs from around the Twin Cities. This is a good option for players who want a taste of what the competitive program will entail. In addition to the Match Day events, players will practice and play games as part of the typical DA schedule. Dates for the Match Day Events are listed below. Sign up is limited to 16 boys and 16 girls. Additional players will be added to a waitlist. Players who sign up are expected to participate in a minimum of 3 Match Day dates listed below. The registration fee covers typical DA costs plus a tournament team jersey, 3-4 additional training opportunities ahead of Match Days and club costs for the Match Day events. |

Overview | The Super 8s program is an early introduction into travel soccer. Families who participate will make a year-long commitment to soccer and their continued development. It is an expectation that the players will play in the competitive travel program in the Fall at a higher age, they will train together at least once per week in the winter, and play together in the Spring. The team is then invited to stay together as our higher level team for an additional year thereafter (their true U9 soccer year). This proven model allows highly-committed players to play together for 4 full seasons and prioritize off-season training which gives players the best opportunity for individual and team development. Players born in 2016 are eligible for the 23/24 program and should plan to register for & attend tryouts on July 24th. |
Ages | All players born in 2016 are invited to tryout |
Dates | Tryouts: July 24; Full Year Commitment Beginning August 2023 |
Fee | $50 tryout fee; $1,100 fee covers Fall & Spring season fees, winter training & player's uniform |
*NOTE: Super 8's will register for the Fall competitive season after tryouts if selected.
