OWSC Super 8 Program

OWSC Super 8's Program

The Super 8s program is an early introduction into travel soccer. Families who participate will make a year-long commitment to soccer and their continued development. It is an expectation that the players will play in the competitive travel program in the Fall at a higher age, they will train together at least once per week in the winter, and play together in the Spring. The team is then invited to stay together as our higher level team for an additional year thereafter (their true U9 soccer year).

This proven model allows highly-committed players to play together for 4 full seasons and prioritize off-season training which gives players the best opportunity for individual and team development.

Players born in 2017 are eligible for the 24/25 program and should plan to attend tryouts on July 18th, 2024 in the evening. Additional details and registration coming soon!

FAQ

When are tryouts?

July 18th @ Mound Westonka High School

Girls 5:30-6:30

Boys 6:30-7:30

What is involved with tryouts?

Players will participate in a short warm up and then scrimmage for approximately 30 minutes. We are looking for 3 qualities in evaluating potential Super 8 players:

  1. Do they listen and stay on task well

  2. Do they pursue the soccer ball assertively (or hang on the fringes of the action)

  3. Do they play the whole time (20-40 mins) or lose interest after 15-20 mins.

What is the fee for the Super 8 Program?

The registration fee is $1,200 and covers the cost of the Fall league, winter training 1-2x a week from November to March, and the Spring league. We are asking those Super 8s to continue their development between seasons and to pay in full by the end of 2024 so we know they are committed to the full program.  Any other training, camps or 5v5 leagues they decide to do with the Club would be separate from the fee.

What if my player is not selected or is not a good fit for the Super 8's program?

Players who are not invited to the Super 8's rosters will be encouraged to participate in our YDP Development Academy for an additional season. All 2017 Birth Year players will transition to our U9 program for the Fall 2025 season.

We are interested in the program but cannot attend tryouts - are there any other ways to be evaluated?

We encourage all players to be at tryouts. If this is entirely not feasible for your family, please contact socceroperations@oronowestonkasoccer.org to inquire about an in-season evaluation during the Spring YDP season.
