Spring Season

Program Overview

Orono Westonka’s Competitive Soccer Program is a community soccer program that provides young athletes in the cities of Orono & Mound (plus surrounding communities) with the opportunity to play competitive soccer while developing their skills in a challenging and fun environment.

The Orono Westonka Soccer Club focuses on building players confidence in their abilities so they can excel on the field.   OWSC strives to provide opportunities for all soccer players to play at any level.  Our teams participate in two leagues based on level and location of clubs in the leagues.  The two leagues are Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) and Twin Cities Soccer League (TCSL).

Teams are created based on Birth Year. We have teams available for U9-U18 (2006-2015).  If you are interested in learning more about our program, please contact OWSC Staff

Schedule

League games for the Spring season begin May 1st. However, all teams will have indoor training in March & April, and will start play outside  April/early May weather permitting. Indoor training takes place at the Welu Group Real Estate training facility in Mound (5314 Shoreline Dr. Mound).

The practice schedule for April - June will be determined by each team's coach and manager based on what works best for the families on that team. Typically teams practice 2X/week. Please reference the game night schedule below to see what nights your player's games will typically take place.

The league schedule includes 10 games (5 home, 5 away). Each division is assigned a primary play night by the league. You can view that schedule HERE.  Additionally, each team will participate in 1-3 tournaments during the Spring season (April-July).

Final game schedules will be available after April 1.

Important Reminders

  • Most teams will participate in weekend 'pool training'. Pool training means players of similar age and/or ability level who train together. This is advantageous for players who get to play with players outside of their immediate team, and coaches to have exposure to new strategies, training ideas and coaching methods.
  • There will be NO TEAM PRACTICES during Spring Break. We will communicate more soon about 'open gym' times during that week.
  • Practice schedules will change when we move outdoors (typically towards the end of April / early May). Outdoor practice schedules will be determined by your coach & team manager based on what works best for the group.
  • All teams will participate in at least one tournament during the Spring season. Those events are being discussed by team coaches & managers now. They will be communicating more information soon.
