The Orono Westonka Soccer Youth Development Program (YDP) is for players 2 - 8 years old looking for a soccer experience that emphasizes participation, learning and fun. Our program offers youth players the opportunity to learn the skills, techniques and rules of soccer in a fun and healthy environment. All players will receive a team jersey. 

 

OWSC relies on volunteer parent coaches for all of our YDP teams. Please consider volunteering to coach your child's team - you can sign up in the registration. No experience is needed! 

SESSION DATES 

Session 1:  November 8 - December 20 (no soccer 11/29)

Session 2:  January 3 - February 7

Session 3:  February 14 - March 21

 

GROUPS will be formed based on these levels: 

MINIS (2 & 3 YEAR OLDS)

Developing motor skills, ball skills, & listening skills while engaging in activities with a soccer ball

RISING STARS (PRE-K - 4 year olds)

Introduction to basic technical skills, using different parts of the foot, basic game elements including scrimmages

JUNIOR ACADEMY (KINDERGARTEN)

Focus on technical skills (ball mastery, dribbling, ball striking) through fun games, basic game elements including a 15 min scrimmage at the end of each practice

DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY (1ST & 2ND GRADERS)

This year's program will have a heavier emphasis on small-sided games to mirror our Fall & Spring format. Players will continue to focus on technical skills (ball mastery, dribbling, ball striking) through a 15 minute skills session at the beginning of each hour-long session. The remainder of the time, teams will play in small-sided games.

 

TIMES

• Minis (2&3 Year Olds): Saturdays 9-9:30AM 
• Rising Stars (4 Year Olds): Saturdays 9:00-9:45AM 
•  Junior Academy (Kindergarteners): Saturdays 9AM-10AM 
• Development Academy (1st & 2nd Graders): Saturdays 10AM-11AM

PRICING

• Minis (2&3 Year Olds): $85 / session 
• Rising Stars (4 Year Olds): $100 / session  
• Junior Academy (Kindergarteners): $135/ session
• Development Academy (1st & 2nd Graders): $175 / session

EQUIPMENT (ALL players will need): 

• Shin guards are REQUIRED for ALL players. Shin guards MUST be completely covered by long socks. 
• Shorts or sweatpants may be worn.
• Tennis shoes or soccer cleats may be worn. 
• All players are encouraged to bring a ball to practice and games. All players will use a size 3 ball 
• Water bottle 

What is included in my Fee? 

Weekly practices/scrimmages, uniforms, indoor turf time, coaching support, administrative costs

 

Uniforms will be handed out at the first practice.

 

*In addition to our registration fee, there will be a small processing fee payable to our Administrator, Sports Engine.
